Description
The database reflects the widely distributed data for Italian freshwater fish occurrences collected in the last 20 years. These data are actually hidden in fisheries plans and studies of the Italian provinces, regions, parks, and some other local administration databases and “grey literature”. These databases and literature resources are collected together, and the records are georeferenced and organized into one database (using Artedian http://artedi.nrm.se/fishbase_se/software/artedian/).

Data Records
The data in this occurrence resource has been published as a Darwin Core Archive (DwC-A), which is a standardized format for sharing biodiversity data as a set of one or more data tables. The core data table contains 52,545 records.
This IPT archives the data and thus serves as the data repository. The data and resource metadata are available for download in the downloads section. The versions table lists other versions of the resource that have been made publicly available and allows tracking changes made to the resource over time.
